Who You Are

You’re a Senior Backend Developer with strong experience designing, building, and evolving production-grade backend systems. You work hands-on delivering scalable services and APIs that support growth-focused use cases such as communications, experimentation, and personalization.

This is a delivery-focused contract role for a senior engineer who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment, and contribute high-quality systems quickly. This role does not include people management responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement scalable backend services, APIs, and data models supporting communications, experimentation, and personalization use cases.
• Deliver well-scoped projects end-to-end, from technical design through production rollout.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to translate growth strategies into technical solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Produce clear technical documentation to support asynchronous collaboration.
• Follow established engineering standards around security, observability, testing, and performance.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Python or Kotlin, or similar.
• Experience working with AWS or another major cloud provider.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Proven ability to deliver complex backend features independently.
• Comfortable working remotely with cross-functional partners in an async-first environment.
• Ability to ramp up quickly in an existing codebase and deliver value within a short-term engagement.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming systems, for example Kafka or Kinesis.
• Experience with experimentation platforms such as A/B testing or feature flags.
• Exposure to large-scale personalization, messaging, or growth-focused systems.
